Neutral Nursery

Yes, little Ratnam is a surprise!

We’ve held out for 33 1/2 weeks so far… only 6 1/2 to go!  Does it look like a boy or girl to you….?

According to my Dad, it looks like a penguin.  So for now, the family refers to it as such… the Penguin.

And fittingly, the nursery theme is penguins! No worries though, everything isn’t tuxedo black and white. Actually, my first challenge was finding a penguin bedding set.  That proved quite difficult-there were jungle themes, under the sea themes, and every animal in between, except penguins.  Then, after scouring the internet… I found it!

‘Arctic Babies’ is the name of the bedding design.  After finding this, everything else fell into place.  I pulled the colors from the bedding set into different parts of the room… sage green for the walls… white furniture… maroon red curtains…black accents… (all gender neutral).

We’ve slowly been assembling the furniture and pulling the room together.  I am under strict instructions by my mother and sister to not buy anything else until my baby shower.  So this is what we have so far…

The Crib

…fully equipped with polar bear mobile, bedding set & matching pillows, and random giant stuffed penguin.

The Window

…we re-used a curtain panel from our old apartment that matched the maroon in the bedding set perfectly and invested in a new curtain rod and hookey thing that holds the curtain to the side.

The Changing Table

…slowly being stocked with essentials like diapers and wipes, and random toys like rattles and books.

Sparce, we know, but a pretty good start seeing as the rest of the house is still in many boxes!

Next… a little bit about our first baby, Tiesto (our pet bunny) and how he’s doing in his new surroundings…
