Hallelujah! After 3 1/2 months, Avery slept through the night!
Maybe it was his extensive playtime with his teddy last night…
or the bath I gave him (his first in the past week because we didn’t want his pneumonia to get worse)…or just finally after months of training him to sleep at night, he finally got the idea.
Last night, as all nights, Avery had his last bottle at 730pm. He finished by 8pm, was burped, changed, in his PJs, and wrapped in a swaddle with a night cap. Then he and I rocked in his room with the light off for 20 mintutes, and by 8:20pm, he was out. I got myself ready for bed and ironically started reading a book about getting your baby to sleep through the night (maybe all you have to do is read the book and it works?!). I went to sleep at 9:30 and awoke a few times in the night, listened, didn’t hear Avery, and went back to sleep. I expected him to wake around 1am, like the night before. I awoke to his cries and checked the time. 4:20am! My alarm is set for 4:40am (we start our day very early because we need to get a feeding in, get myself ready for the day, and head out by 6:15am). Avery had slept through the night. I was thrilled! I had gotten 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep! Man, it feels good. Let’s only hope this wasn’t a fluke and he does it again tonight….!
