Date Night In

Friday night date night in…

Friday night we had a babysitter lined up, and big plans to go see the new Avengers movie.  Unfortunately, those plans were cancelled when Vinay thought he might have to work late.  So, instead of going out, we had a date night in.  Monopoly!

After Avery went down to bed, we took out the board game and setup for a night of fun.  As we all know, Monopoly can takes hours and sometimes days because you have to stop for the night and go back to it another day.  That was NOT the story Friday night.  About 30 minutes in, I landed on a ballpark (Red Sox Monopoly’s version of a Hotel) and was wiped out.  But my sweet hubby let me trade two properties instead.  The game continued like this for a couple more rounds of deal-making until our dinner was ready and I called it quits because I had no money or property left :(

And yes, Vinay spent the whole weekend reminding me of how I lost to him.  Saturday night he asked ‘Wanna play another game?” knowing very well I was not going to risk loosing twice in one weekend!

So, although we didn’t get our date night out, we had a pretty fun time sipping a glass of wine and playing a board game.

What do you do on Date Nights in?  Do you and your spouse have any favorite board games?  We also love Battleship and we’ve actually spent a winter blackout doing a puzzle by flashlight before…

  1. Awww. SO sorry that plans fell through. It’s our anniversary today and my MIL said she’d babysit so we could go out, but Lili is sick and Pedro and I don’t want to leave her. So that date night out might be post-poned till our return.

Your date-night in sounded perfect though. Pedro and I usually do the same. Play board games and/or watch a movie. We’ll see if we have time to watch a movie or do something even if Lili is under the weather. ;o(

  2. This is really great! We need to make more of an effort to have “dates” even when we’re staying home. I love Monopoly and have definitely played a few games that have lasted for days before! :) We like to watch movies, but then I inevitably fall asleep! Haha, so something a little more interactive (like a game) would be perfect!
