Summer is in full-swing! June is already gone and we’re into the second week of July already. Here’s a little recap of the past month in the RatnamResidence:

802 LESS visitors than last month. Where did everyone go?! I think the drop in ‘readership’ is probably due to two factors: One, we were on vacation a couple times, which mean less posting. Two, everyone else has bee on vacation! It is summer, you know.

0 With the hot summer, Avery has had one essential piece of clothing…nothing!… his diaper is his recent attire for the warm weather.
1 We have one baby gate – and good thing because Avery is crawling all over and pulling up on everyhting! He’s even become quite a drummer in the kitchen…
2 Avery has two teeth!!! Both bottom teeth came in this past month… and you’ll see soon, they won’t be two lonely teeth for long…
9 This is month NINE of having a baby that does not sleep thru the night, and it’s taking it’s toll. We’ve got some big plans this week while Grammy is here though… at the end of the week we should have a very good sleeper…
20 Avery slept the first 20 minutes of his first ever trip to the beach… he woke up in time to test the water and absolutely hate it! No worries though, we gave it another go on the 4th of July and it went a little better..
Family Stuff
0 We saw zero fireworks this year… because after debating if fireworks were for babies, we decided to wait until maybe next year.
1 Our family car has it’s first sticker – our version of ‘baby on board’
2 I lost TWICE in two games of lawn twister… great family game!
3 1/2 hours of driving on a Friday after work out to the Berkshires in western, Mass. to spend Vinay’s first Father’s Day weekend – where Avery made Daddy a gift.
6 We spent 6 days in California visiting Vinay’s family. Avery took his first plane rides, saw his great grandparents, and even went to the zoo! (Day 1, Days 2+3, Days 4-6)
8 Steps to make my yummy buffalo mac and cheese. A fun and spicy twist on a regular dinner!
1000 A picture is worth a thousand words… yet seeing this in the morning just seems so peaceful and there are no words that can come close to describing it…

Hi. Thanks… I get the blog stats from the ‘stats section on wordpress. If you click ‘view all’ below the little chart on your dashboard showing your visitors you can find tons more stats. I just pick out a couple here and there and most have the option to view ‘past 30 days’ so you can see the past month’s stats. The rest of the stats are random numbers that have to do with the various posts I made the previous month
About the sleep thing…I was just thinking and wondering if Avery has a sound machine? When we moved Annabel into her own room, we also bought a white noise sound machine because I noticed that she was starting to stir with lots of little noises. Since then, every night we turn on the sound machine and I really think it helps! Even when we’re in bed, there are noises throughout the house (mainly due to the cats), but she can’t hear any of it because of her sound machine. Anyway, just thought I’d mention it in case you hadn’t looked into it! Hopefully Grammy has some tricks up her sleeve too:)
Thanks for the advice, Adrianne. We don’t have a sleep machine. Our house is close to a main road and you can hear some cars going by, so that may help….. I’ll have to look into it. Until then, Grammy will have to work her magic!
Yes, definitely look into it! I really think it has helped Annabel sleep through the night. I actually got one because I read in the comment section of a blog where all of these moms were swearing by them. There are some pretty expensive ones out there, but we got ours for $18 at Babies R Us. You need one that will play all night; some turn off after 30 minutes or so and you don’t want that! Anyway, hope you check it out and hope that it helps!
