Well, I was going to write about our weekend, but thanks to hurricane Sandy, our weekend isn’t over yet! In the four years I’ve worked at my office, they haven’t closed… not for snow storms, or Irene last year… but this year, Sandy is headed our way and the city of Boston has closed EVERYTHING! No work or daycare tomorrow for any of us… a day at home keeping safe inside weathering the storm!
Our weekend was a whirlwind of activities starting on Friday… got Avery a new pair of sneakers (because we lost one of his shoes!) on Friday and we played in the park in the afternoon because it was so gorgeous out.
On Saturday, we went grocery shopping in the morning – just me and Avery. Vinay joined us when we were checking out… only because I forgot my wallet. Seriously! I remembered the baby bag and Avery’s Bordom Cup of gold fish, but nope, totally forgot my wallet! Mommy brain. Then it was home to play outside in the sun… raked some leaves and put up the wind mill Avery’s Great Grandma got him for his birthday.
Avery wandered around (I love having a fenced in yard!) while I raked leaves. I’d look up to see where he was and he was hidden in the bushes for a while so I went to see what he was up to…
Then it was off to the park again… I HAD to take advantage of the nice weather… soon it will be to cold to do this. At the park, Avery found a friend and they played basketball together.
After lunch, Avery passed out.
While he was out, I switched the laundry (I did 3 loads this weekend), did the dishes, and ate lunch in peace… ahhh. Then we were up and on the go again. Went to Babies R Us to return the Bumbo Seat and tray (it was recalled). Got a $57 store credit – cha-ching! Then we returned a leaky humidifier and got a newer nicer one with a 20% discount and only paid $14 for a new one that was worth $50 more. (My girl Ngoc would be proud we ‘say no to full price’)
Back home, I put away Avery’s clothes that Grammy bought him recently at a Hatley sale (a bag of $1500 retail priced clothes for $70). So while I put his clothes away, I packed away another box of small clothes – 12 month old sizes are too small now – We’re into 18-24 sizes already! And I organized Avery’s closet and dresser, which seem to look like a hurricane passed thru by the end of each week after grabbing clothes on the go every day.

Then Avery helped fold some laundry…kinda.
After Avery went down to bed, we curled up on the couch to watch a movie on TV. We didn’t get thru the first half hour before we were both out. I’m not complaining tho – cuz Avery slept thru, which meant I got a nice long sleep – although I did wake up at 1am (thanks, Erin) because my phone flashed from a text message. But I was still able to sleep 6 hours more after that.
Breakfast with Avery and then I was off to work. Yes, work on a Sunday. I made up the last 6 hours I owed from when we took our last trip to California – I took 3 days off and just made up the time in the past 3 months here and there.
When I got home, Avery was very clingy… he’s had a runny nose so he must not be feeling too well. We played for a bit, then we went to work cleaning out a cupboard of Avery’s old bottles (Yes, old. Avery had his last bottle on Friday night… and we aren’t looking back!) So when I cleaned out this cupboard…Avery was thrilled. He climbed into the cupboard and kept going in and out…
We had a yummy family dinner and Avery went down really well – oh and he said ‘Baa’ to the sheep in one of our books tonight! And if that wasn’t a good enough end to the night, I got a call that work is cancelled tomorrow… so we get another fun-filled day tomorrow with Avery!
How was your weekend? Are you ready for Sandy?
